Following the success of the ‘What’s ur Celebration?’ FIFA World Cup campaign Sponge was asked to manage the campaign to spearhead Coca-Cola’s celebrations of Nigeria’s 50th anniversary of independence.
And what a celebration it is!
Running from 16th August to 10th October, the text and win campaign is the biggest ever seen in Nigeria; featuring on 100 million bottles of Coke, Fanta and Sprite, with a total prize fund of over £1.3m in cash & cars. Customers who purchase promotional bottles are asked to text in their unique code found under their crown cap to a dedicated short code, with all valid entries entered into a daily and weekly grand prize draw. Over 1000 cash prizes are being given away in every daily draw with the weekly grand prize draw winners being announced on Sundays in a five minute slot at the tail-end of Newsline – Nigeria’s highest rated news programme – creating 15 Naira millionaires with five lucky winners driving away in a Mitsubishi Shogun.
The competition is being communicated through a series of TV, radio, press, banner, Facebook and outdoor ads running through the duration of the campaign.
Sponge has built the entry platform and has made the campaign truly universal by partnering with all seven mobile networks - another first for Nigeria. Sponge was also tasked with creating and managing the digital media campaign, the portal pages and the Facebook activity.
