// Sponge launches a Jaffa of a promotion

Sponge has been chosen by McVitie’s and Billington Cartmell to run Jaffa Cakes’ main on-pack campaign for 2009 – the ‘Worlds of Discovery’ text-to-win competition.

The competition is running on 14 million packs throughout the UK and the Republic of Ireland. There are 94 daily prizes of Virgin Experience vouchers to win, and a final grand prize draw of a family holiday to ‘Worlds of Discovery’ in Florida.

Users are directed online to the ‘I love Jaffa Cakes’ website where they can enter an additional competition, play a game and receive discounts on Virgin Experience Days.

The competition also runs a positive opt-in allowing McVitie’s to build a customer database for future CRM activities.

From results to date, the promotion looks set to achieve excellent response rates. Sweet !
